Rehearsals at PIMS from now on

October 23, 2007

Fidalgo Youth Symphony Musicians and Parents,

Our first concerts of the season are less than a week away: Saturday, October 27, 2PM at McIntyre Hall, Mount Vernon, and Sunday, October 28, 2PM at Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham.  Musicians, please be sure to attend this coming Thursday night's rehearsal as it is our last opportunity to put the finishing touches on everything just prior to the concert.

There will again be opportunities to photograph your symphony after the performance is over (musicians please stay in place on the stage for a few minutes after the last piece so that you may be photographed in a performance setting).  Please send your favorite digital photos from the "photo-op" to webmaster@fysmusic.org for possible inclusion on the website.  Always remember to check our website and share it with your friends: www.fysmusic.org  (consider sending your friends a link to http://fysmusic.org/calendar.html, where you can view, download and print a quality version of our concert poster).

August, 2007

Dear musicians and parents, The FidalgoYouth Symphony board members welcome you to the 2007-2008 season. For returning members, congratulations on your excellent performances during the past season. For new members, we are excited to have you join us as musicians and friends.

Our Thursday night rehearsals begin September 13th at Peterson International School of Music. Junior symphony will rehearse from 5:30 pm to 7 pm and Youth symphony rehearses 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Please plan to attend as many rehearsals as possible so that the Fidalgo Youth Symphony and all its members can reach their full potential.

Registrations forms are due by September 15th. Mail them to: Fidalgo Youth Symphony, P.O. Box 2013, Anacortes, WA 98221.

The concert schedule begins October 27th, 2 pm at McIntyre Hall. We follow up with performances October 28th, 2 pm at Mt. Baker Theatre, March 15th, 2 pm at McIntyre Hall and May 18th, 2 pm at McIntyre Hall. Invite your friends, family and potential new orchestra members to put these dates on their calendars so they don’t miss a moment of our new season.

And speaking of new orchestra members. . . We welcome orchestral musicians of all types, particularly those on our endangered instrument list (oboe, bassoon, French horn, string bass). Fidalgo Youth Symphony draws musicians from a wide geographic area so it is impossible for symphony leaders to reach out to all musicians who might be interested. We need the help of all our members to watch for and recruit talented new players. Be on the lookout for musicians you encounter in your school music programs or daily life and don’t hesitate to tell them about your experiences in the Symphony. Tell Sharyn (360-421-2527) when you find potential members. Don’t be shy! Our orchestra needs us all to be ambassadors.

We look forward to seeing you all at the first rehearsal!

Warmly, Jon Prescott – President - president@fysmusic.org

Neill Stanford - Treasurer/webmaster - webmaster@fysmusic.org
Pam Hobson – Secretary
