Mission statement: "Teach values of teamwork and excellence through musical training, enabling talented young musicians to advance in musical performance."

Malcolm Peterson, Orchestra Manager, Junior Orchestra Conductor, Brass Coach

Malcolm Peterson has demonstrated expertise as a performer, manager and conductor in a variety of musical groups: high school and college choirs and ensembles; large church choirs and orchestras; high school, middle school and beginning bands. While working in Seattle, he performed on trumpet in many choral masterworks including Rick Vale's Te Deum, written for specifically for Malcolm (trumpet), and his wife Sharyn (violin); then known as the Musical Offering Chorale. He is first trumpet in the Brass Menagerie Quintet, a popular performance ensemble in the Northwest.

Mr. Peterson has studied conducting with the acclaimed Dr. Bonner of Azusa Pacific College, and is committed to the growth of musical experience among the youth and adults of Skagit Valley. In 2004 he is conducting the Skagit Opera’s performance of Handel’s Messiah for the second consecutive year, and is also conducting the Opera’s production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Mikado” at the historic Lincoln Theatre in October.

In addition to his role of Orchestra Manager for the Fidalgo Youth Symphony, Mr. Peterson will continue his contributions as conductor for the Junior Orchestra and Brass coach. He is also the Brass Coach for the Mt. Baker Youth Symphony.
